Reconnect with some Self Care Pressure Point Massage
/Q. What is the first thing you do when you hurt yourself?
Rub the area better!
Rubbing the area better with your hand is an automatic response, and has a proven effect to sooth and calm the area that may be hurting and leaving you feel more relaxed.
In these difficult times, we are all experiencing a degree of anxiety. There are some powerful pressure points that can be channelled to help relieve any stress, anxiety and pressure that we may be feeling.
I want to personally share with you some of my professional tips which I recommend you trying at home.
Sitting comfortably, take some nice deep breaths to relax into this first.
The pressure point release technique - Using your index finger or thumb, with a firm but not painful pressure on a any area for 10-30 seconds, then slowly release the pressure but still keeping the thumb connected to the area, massage in small circular motion for 3-5 minutes. Repeat if you feel you need to work the area more.
Anxiety, stress, and insomnia- upper shell of your ear, at the tip of the triangle-like hollow there.
Headaches, and neck pain - webbing between the thumb and index finger.
Anxiety - Three finger widths below the intersection of your big toe and second toe. The point lies in the hollow just above the bone.
Stress - Outside of your shin bone, four fingers from the bottom of your knee cap.
Calming your breath - In the centre of the chest, level with the lower border of the 4th rib.
Promote peace - The space between the eyebrows.
Calming your mind - On the bottom of your foot, below the ball of your foot and between the first and second toes there is a tender depression.
Tension headache - base of the skull in the parallel hollow areas between the two vertical neck muscles.
Body and mind balance - The middle of the palm.
Worry - Top of thumb and big toe.
